Water Resources Engineering & Planning

Our water resource and ecological planning studies, guidance documents, manuals, and public outreach efforts are focused on restoring ecological system health through the re-connection of soils, water, and vegetation. Meliora’s Planning services include:
  • Green Infrastructure Planning
  • Watershed Studies & Planning
  • Stormwater Management Planning
  • Integrated Resources Management Planning
  • Stormwater Master Planning for Campuses
  • Ecological Site Assessment
  • Feasibility Studies
  • Sustainability & LID Manual Development
  • Outreach & Engagement (Workshops, Design Charrettes & Outreach)
  • Geographical Information Systems (Geospatial Database Development, Spatial Analysis, Mapping & Graphical Displays, Aerial Photograph Interpretation & Georeferencing)
  • Basemapping

Regenerative Design

Regenerative design strives to restore natural systems through the built environment, moving beyond practices that are simply “less bad” to designs that are truly sustainable. Regenerative design is a systems-based, multi-disciplinary approach whereby the built environment can heal the damage of past human activities, and respond to future challenges of climate change. We believe that a regenerative approach creates projects that are resilient, cost-effective, and beautiful, including:
  • Stormwater systems that return clean water to the aquifer
  • Landscapes that restore healthy soils and vegetation to absorb and support biodiversity
  • Water and wastewater systems that reduce water and energy levels
  • Sites designed to restore a natural water balance system of evaporation, runoff, and recharge
  • Green Infrastructure Design
  • Designs that mitigate the impacts of urban development, including localized flooding, loss of habitat, and urban heat islands
  • Rainwater Collection and Re-Use
  • Alternative Wastewater Systems
  • Stream Daylighting and Restoration
  • Water Balance Analysis
  • Site Design for LEED & SITES Criteria
  • Sustainable Stormwater Planning & Design Analysis
